SQUIRREL!!!!

Today, I was getting the chicken cut for dinner and Kolten came running inside yelling,"Girls, you want to come see something gross!?!" Of course they did, and both went running out. A minute later JJ came running back in,"Mom, its a dead chipmunk! Its in our yard!" I said,"Are you sure?" "Yes, I am sure, Jaiden told me to come tell you." Then Jaiden comes running in, "Mom, it's not a chipmunk or a squirrel! I don't know what it is but it is to big to be a squirrel!"

By this time I am thinking What in the heck is dead in my yard!? I go outside and they bring me to the unknown creature. I look at it and sure enough it is TO BIG to be a chipmunk, then I realize, It is a freakin' gopher! Dead in my flower bed!! (well, weed bed would be more accurate). When I tell my kids what it is they are amazed and have to look again. Guess why? Because, none of them have ever seen a real gopher before, only the whistling gopher from winnie the pooh. Now, all of them are upset because winnie the pooh gopher is dead in our front yard! They all feel horrible, WHY? Because moments ago they were all throwing rocks at it to make sure it was dead! If it wasn't, it is now! I'm not in the book ya know!

I was going to leave the "I'm not in the book you know" comment. But - there it is, already in your post.

I can't believe there was a dead gopher in your yard. How did you even have a live gopher? I hear gophers are a nightmare to have in a yard. They tear it up with tunnels and such. Keep us posted.

I'm so excited about your blog, so thanks for (finally) telling me about it!

We had a dead vole in our yard when we moved in. I had never heard of them before, but they're only about the size of a rat. I can't imagine a gopher!
